Baby-Related Crafts [Jul. 7th, 2009|04:55 pm]

I've done a whole heap of tie-dyed suits & vests for some online mum-chums/

The Bean, of course, stuck her head into the pic & said 'cheeeese!'

Husband Malfunction. [Jun. 5th, 2009|09:34 pm]
Poor [info]cavalorn had to go to the emergency dentist.

He just got back, all sorry for himself, but tanked up with painkillers & going back for x-rays & stuff, poor guy. Nasty infected wisdom tooth :(

English Summer Redux [May. 29th, 2009|12:15 am]

Lovely weather in Brighton on Wednesday.... the kids in the background are some of the puzzlingly ever-present French teenagers: hardy buggers!

Hot & sunny forecast this weekend... crazy!

Dressing Up [May. 27th, 2009|10:48 am]
On June 6th, there's a village D-Day festival, being held in the churchyard.

You know, the one directly outside the back door, so there's no way of avoiding it, really.

There's a prize for the best costume.

(OK, no suggesting that the SS had the best costumes, that'd get us put in the stocks)

So.... we were thinking of putting the Bean in a sailor suit, or a little smocked dress, but what about us grown-ups? Hats/turbans are required for our anachronistic hair.

Also, if anyone can LEND us anything, that would also be amazing...

Dragon Plea + BATS! [May. 25th, 2009|10:19 pm]
Adopt one today!

Can I pathetically ask if a few people who don't usually click on dragons could check this little guy out, he's in danger of dying, & I've never killed one before :(

Been out bat-watching in the graveyard with the Bean tonight. She squeaks "BAT!" at them as they fly over.

A Day at the Fair [May. 24th, 2009|11:55 am]
Yesterday, we all went to the Heathfield Show, which is a livestock festival of immense proportions.

We saw sheep, cows, pigs & horses, all brushed, washed & trimmed within an inch of their lives. We saw yellow chicks & striped piglets & racing ferrets. We saw pretty much every shape & size of dog.

We saw giant tractors & monster trucks, an ancient threshing machine, & many, many chainsaws.

We saw lots of people in those Australian sheep-herders hats.

We ate fresh, hot doughnuts, rolled in sugar, from a paper bag. We tasted home-made dark mead, cider & cake, & admired great tables groaning with cheeses, honey & other goodies.

We saw noisy rides, & paid to go into the striped MOUSE TOWN tent, which was well worth 50p & I would happily go again.

Yes, [info]ashbet, there were heavy horses. Also, tiny ponies & miniature cattle!

The Bean rode on my back all afternoon, & learned the words "SHEEP" & "MOWSHE!"

Will go again next year, but catch a few more events, & venture into the huge food tent, rather than dodging it!

We got leaflets about garden furniture, & a plant called a Chocolate Cosmos.

It didn't rain, but neither did we get sunburned.

Pleased [May. 15th, 2009|11:30 pm]
[mood | cheerful]

I posted a short story a looong time ago, then sold it, & today I happened to Google myself on the subject, & found.... nice reviews. Yay! Ate a Chinese dessert called Fried Ghost tonight. Mmmmmm.

Clicky eggs/babies if it be thy will.

Le Sigh [May. 15th, 2009|02:09 pm]
Feeling glum because I have a sinus headache of migraine-like proportions.

Been slowly fading over the last four hours, so now I've managed to eat some toast without throwing up, but, yeesh, I can do without stabbing pain to the eyesocket.

Baby has been learning the difference between Mummy & Daddy. Daddy has a tattoo on his chest. It is "A BAT!" (yelled with glee) whereas the one on Mummy's chest is "SHTARRR!"

Yes, Daddy has "BOOB!"s, in a sense, but they are flat & do not function as snack dispensers.

The fact that I was having this conversation until gone 2am is part of the reason I feel so ill today.

Also feeling glum as I cannot access my favourite forum, where I'm doing some tie-dyeing for seven people, & all my notes are there, so now I'm stuck. Poo.

Dragons & Gardening [May. 11th, 2009|01:54 pm]
Adopt one today! Adopt one today!
Adopt one today! Adopt one today!

Leetle dragons need clicks to grow wings, eggs need clicks to hatch :)

I've been gardening since Saturday morning, & actually ended up stiff & sore after spening nearly all Saturday digging small holes.

I now have FLOWER BEDS with all sorts of plants in them, a little herb garden, & a window box full of little tomato plants, with pots of chilli peppers & beans along my windowsill.

I still have sweet pea seedlings to plant, & a good few more bedding plants. A bed of assorted white flowers are starting to poke shoots through beside my herbs. A huge amount of undergrowth was cut down & binned in the correct colour wheelie.

The village horticultural society had a plant sale on Saturday morning, you see, & I went SHOPPING, & then hit up a couple of garden centres for cheap containers, compost etc.

Feeling a bit poor now, but this is my first proper garden!

Oh, & inside my windowsill, there are black flowering sunflowers germinating :)

OMG! [May. 3rd, 2009|11:25 pm]

The things you find on the internet, eh?

I'm on the front row of kids on chairs, far left, moving & closing my eyes as they take the picture.

I have a long history of wrecking school photos.

Farewell My Lovelies (& a box of eggs) [May. 3rd, 2009|06:22 pm]
Now, my lovely American visitors [info]ashbet & [info]mr_rubix have gone home, [info]cavalorn is away, & [info]lucysprog has passed out in my lap, so how do I console myself?

With DRAGON EGGS which my friends can click on! Sooo many new eggs. Mmmmmm.

Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today!

(yes, the first one is floating)

I've had a lovely American-visit. I may babble on properly about it at some point soon, but there was shopping, the seaside, ice-cream, conveyor-belt sushi, Jason Statham, dolly-photography, walking in the pretty spring countryside, holding hands, bacon, port, & many, many goodly things

Seaside Entertainment [Apr. 23rd, 2009|12:38 am]
[mood | cheerful]

Today I wasted £1 feeding coins into those gaming machines where you hope cash will be pushed off a ledge. If I'd had £3,i'd have done it for over an hour.

Later, after going on a carousel with loved ones, I took my knickers off on Brighton Pier.

Damned silk undies & their expired elastic! Don't think anyone saw me do it...

Satan's Nightwear & Free Chocolate [Apr. 11th, 2009|09:29 pm]
I love people who can't spell but list stuff on Ebay.

These are my size. I'm almost tempted.

Great Satan PJs

In other news, I was given an Easter Egg by drunken older men on the bus. It has Mr T on the box.

I now realize I took sweets from strangers. My mum would tell me off. I blame my cleavage. It went up to a D again.

Any BPAL Addicts Looking For... [Mar. 30th, 2009|12:55 pm]
[mood | sleepy]

Full bottles of:

Crumpet Rebellion (untested)
Lydia (tested once)
Pirate Moon (untested)

POSSIBLY Crypt Queen. It is my favourite, but I have 2 bottles & take forever to use any up at all.

Apologies to those uneducated in the way of rare & collectable perfumes. I also have umpty-bajillion imps, including lots of limited ed/discon stuff.

Lovely sunny day here in Cowfold. Two loads of laundry done already.

Oops! [Mar. 21st, 2009|11:20 am]
[mood | relieved]
[music |Brass Band playing on Space Pirates]

Just scared the living daylights out of myself.

[info]cavalorn has gone away until tomorrow night.

The baby is playing in the living room.

I thought I'd better go put the rubbish out & clear up the yard, so I grab the rubbish, pop outside & SLAM.

Lock myself out of my own cottage without a key

It is only because the weather is so fine that I had the top of the stable-stylee back door open that I was able to run around the block & get back in.

SCARY!

Leaving the baby on the inside adds a whole new dimension to being locked out!

*hangs bag with key round neck*

Lovely weather here, did I mention? Birds & flowers & sunshine & All That.

Well, You Would, Wouldn't You? [Mar. 6th, 2009|08:21 pm]
Visiting my mother-in-law the night before last, I drank a glass of sparkling wine, & was therefore tipsy.

She lives in a converted barn, so therefore there is a good deal of countryside around.

As we were sitting down to dinner, I heard very odd noises outside.

Sheep. RIGHT outside the door. Also, lambs. I mentioned this, & was teased as a drunkard.

However, we all quietened down, & "BAAAAA" ... yup.

Went outside. Neighbours of a farmer-ish nature had got a trailer of sheep loaded up to move somewhere, & a dog-cage full of day-old-lambs, right in the driveway. Many loud animal noises.

The Bean was brought out to see the lambs, & we gawped just long enough to be annoying, then went back inside for dinner.

Dinner was eaten.

As we were scraping our plates of the last smidgen of lemon/berry mousse-cum-trifle yummy dessert, I noticed that the neighbours had finally driven off.

I found myself unable to resist saying:

"Listen! Finally, the silence of the lambs!"

Lucky they weren't serving chianti.

Mmmm, Beefy Breasts [Mar. 1st, 2009|10:38 am]
[mood | savoury]

OK.

In nightshirt, stumbling, half-awake, into kitchen, finding my visiting parents have put cupboard-contents in slightly odd places in my cupboard, I start to re-arrange things a bit.

Pick up full tub of Bisto gravy granules. Balance it on top of tub of Bouillon granules my mum brought.

It falls.

It flies open in transit.

An almost-full tub of gravy granules tips over my chest.

I am... full of meaty goodness.

Pardon me, but mopping my upper quadrant down with damp kitchen paper was not enough. I think I may have to shower.
